D.C. Arterburn of Amarillo died Thursday, April 6, 2017.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene Hudgins officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

D.C. was born July 30, 1922, in Stuart, Okla., to Ernest Forrest and Margaret Leoma Arterburn. He graduated from Ranger Jr. College and then proudly served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He spent all his time on a destroyer escort traveling from Iceland to Cuba.

He married Dorothy Lewis on June 6, 1957, in Lubbock. They moved to Amarillo in 1963 and he went to work for Detroit Diesel as a parts man and retired from Jack B. Kelley in 1987. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Church since 1963, serving in various positions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Amarillo; a daughter, Kim Arterburn of Houston; a son, James Crossley and wife Jennifer of Shertz; a brother, E.F. Arterburn Jr. of Lubbock; a granddaughter, Amy Phillips and husband Kale; and four great- grandchildren, Judson, Jedd, Jensen and Jenks Phillips, all of Amarillo.

The family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
