Union Civil War Veteran. Born in New Jersey, he was the son of Levi Swift and Charlotte Wykoff Beebe and later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. During the Civil War, he answered President Lincoln's call for volunteers and enlisted to serve for three years in the Union Army. Beebe was mustered in as a Private in Company L of the 4th Ohio Cavalry on September 3, 1862. When the war ended in 1865, he was mustered out on June 26, 1865. He was married to Emma Foley and they had four children; William, Jesse, Carrie, and Frank. His grave is unmarked.
