Celia "Honey" Nealon, 89, of Portage, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2001 at Fountainview Nursing Home. She was born in Miller, Indiana, on October 13, 1911, the daughter of Burton Allen and Clara (Bigelow) Crisman. She was a Portage resident for 56 years and was married to Paul E. Nealon in 1931 in Crown Point. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1970. She was employed as a sales clerk for Penney's and was the manager of the first Portage office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of the Brunswick Presbyterian Church, the Order of Eastern Star, the Portage Democrat Club, A Port Authority Board Member, Vice-chairman of the Indiana Democratic Party, a former campaign manager for Senator Birch Bayh. She is survived by two daughters, Detta Rose (Richard G.) Oliver of Mesa, Arizona, and Judy Nealon of Portage; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Edna Saunders of Mount Vernon, Ruby Crisman of Miller and Ila Wheat of McAllen, Texas; and one nephew, Mark Wheat. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one grandson, Ryan.

A visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2001 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana, 46368. A funeral service will follow at 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association. For information please call 1-219-762-8595.
