Born July 5, 1911, in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Arche Marion and Nancy Senith Burton Sumpter. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Burnetta Baptist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Dewey Sumpter of Nancy.
Three brothers, Leon, Joe, and Arvil Sumpter; and three sisters, Nellie Fulcher, Rosie Pittman, and Hattie Sumpter, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Burnetta Baptist Church with the Rev. C.E. Hansford officiating.
Burial will be in the Lee Cemetery.
Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
