Charles Rushton Booker Jr was known to his immediate family and friends as Rushton or Rushton Jr. He was born in Parsons, Labette County, Kansas. His father was Charles Rushton Booker Sr (b. 1903, d. 1976), a stationary engineer, and his mother was Ersa Louzader (b. 1903, d. 1998), a mother and homemaker. He had a younger sister, Zula Imogene "Bobby" Booker Coats (b. Sep 7, 1927). Rushton grew up and attended school in Parsons. Upon completion of school, he joined the US Army Air Forces, and he served until the completion of WW II. After his military service, he attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence. After university, he moved to Springfield, Missouri and served as a city policeman for a number years. In Springfield in the early 1950s, he met a young widow, Laquita Joy "Joy" Phillips Anderson. They married around 1955, and they had one son, Charles Rushton Booker III (b. Jan 21, 1957). In 1960, Rushton began work with Ebasco Services, a New York based engineering firm which specialized in the engineering of nuclear power plants. His employment with Ebasco took him and his family to a number of locations in the US and also in Brazil and Korea. He remained in the employ of Ebasco until his death, in Jesup, Wayne County, Georgia, where he was working as a quality assurance advisor for Ebasco. Rushton Jr died prematurely of cardiac arrest at the age of 56 in Wayne County Hospital in Jesup. He was survived by his wife, son, mother, sister and brother in law. His remains were buried in his home town at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Parsons, Labette County, Kansas.
