Elizabeth Sharp was the daughter of John Sharp, one of the pioneers of the county and the founder of Walnut Grove. She was born at Dry Creek, Eldorado County, soon after her parents arrived in California; but she received her elementary schooling at Walnut Grove and finished her education at Hesperian College, Woodland, after which she engaged in teaching school till her marriage to Sperry Dye on July 4, 1869 at the Capital Hotel in Sacramento.
They had five children, including one set of twins. Lizzie passed away at the St. Helena sanitarium and was survived by her sons Sperry, Corodon, and Milo, as well as daughter Amy. Predeceased by her husband Sperry and an baby son John.
