Wallace "Wally" J. Haske, age 89, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc. Wally was born on February 19, 1928 in Rogers City, MI to the late Stanley and Helen Sobczynski Haske.

On December 30, 1950, Wally married Janet Tadych at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2017.

He graduated from Rogers City High School with the class of 1947. After working numerous jobs to help his widowed mother support their family, Wally sailed for the Great Lakes Fleet of United States Steel Corporation for 30 years. He retired from the steamer, Rogers City, in 1977 as Chief Engineer. After his retirement, Wally moved with his family to Manitowoc where he was employed by Manitowoc Engineering. He worked there for 13 years until retiring in 1990 as Head Boiler Operator. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Survivors include Wally's five children, Jeanne Haske of Manitowoc, Paula Haske of Denmark, James (Sharon) Haske of Rogers City, MI; John (Virginia) Haske of Algoma, and Gerald (Linda) Haske of Coleman; daughter-in-law, Judith Haske of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, Richard (Billie) Haske of Canton, MI and William (Georgiana) Haske of Herron, MI; sister, Catherine (Clarence) Purgiel of Gaylord, MI; also other relatives and friends.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet; son, Michael; brother, Stanley Jr.; and grandson, Adam.

Funeral services for both Wally and his wife Janet will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum.
