George, 92, of Channelview, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 7, 2017 in the San Jacinto Manor of Deer Park, Texas. He was born May 8, 1924 in Elizabeth, La. to the union of George Wesley Paul and Cora (Willis) Paul. On December 19, 1941, George begin proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, which he served in the World War II and the Korean Conflict. George worked 2 years as a locomotive fireman for the Santa Fe Railroad, 36 years for MARS, retiring on January 20, 1990.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline (Tarver) Paul; six brothers, Harold Paul, Jeff Paul, Bill Paul, Dave Paul, Ray Paul, and Huey Paul; six sisters, Edith Bonds, Beulah Perkins, Beatrice Lopez, Laura Rhodes, Ezell Brown, and Thelma Byrd; one daughter, Constance Fitch; and stepdaughter, Maggie DeVore.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: grandson, Steven Wayne Brock; granddaughter, Rebecca Fitch; one stepdaughter, Gretchen (Terry) Price; stepson, Bruce E. Lanz; one step granddaughter, Brandi (Brandon) Lacey; one great granddaughter, Ella Lacey; one brother-in-law, Carl Tarver; three sister-in-laws, Geraldine Byrd, Arlene Bergenholtz; and Ida Faye McGray; and along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.
