Alfred Hudson Fortenberry, 80, of Birmingport, AL, passed away Tuesday morning, July 15, 2014. Alfred was preceded in death by his son, Alfred "Mike" Fortenberry. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; his children, Norma (Jerry) Fields, Vicki (Marlon) Tucker, Teresa (Duane) Salter, David Fortenberry, Alan (Debbie) Fortenberry, and Rhonda (Randy) Brewington; his grandchildren, Christy Fields-Pierce, Jerri Lynn Wesson, Michael Fortenberry, Leslie Osborn, Windy Glass, Thomas Salter, Shirley Schultz, Denise Hutto, Leon Brewington and sixteen great grands. Alfred served his country for 20 years in the US Army. He served two tours of duty during the Korean War and two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Alfred retired from Warrior Gulf. He is honored and loved by many family and friends, who will miss him dearly. Memorial service will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home with Bro. Larry West officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.
