Our family has had the awesome privilege of having a virtuous woman in our lives. Lura Jane (Beckett) Talkington journeyed to her Heavenly Father on the evening of February 20, 2017, with the final words of "I Love You" whispered in her ear seconds before her last breath.
Lura, age 81, a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother of strength and courage who showed all she knew kindness. She was born in Jacksonburg, WV. June 3, 1935, to the late Asa and Nettie Beckett. Lura never really retired from her duties of motherhood and has been a member of East Canton Church of God for many, many years. She is preceded in death by husband Lewis, two brothers Ervin and Don Beckett, one grandson and two great- grandchildren.
Trusted by all, she is survived by her nine children and spouses: Dianne & (Kenneth) Kendall, Dick & (Dottie) Talkington, Darlene & (Rick) Rine, Randy & (Linda) Talkington, Stephen & (Traci) Talkington, Jane Clapper, Tami & (Thom) Grubb, John & (Laura) Talkington, Todd & (Kim) Talkington; one sister, Nila Ensminger and one brother, Dwight; 27 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in the East Canton Church of God, 201 E. Nassau St., East Canton, Ohio 44730 on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be 2 hours before service on Thursday at the church (12-2pm). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Church of God.
