FOXBORO - Lewis Adelard Bedard, 86, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 surrounded by the comfort of his loving family. He was the son of the late Lewis A. and Gladys (Downs) Bedard Sr.

Born in Jamaica Plain on July 29, 1920, Lewis was a graduate of Dedham High School, Class of 1938, and Northeastern University.

He proudly served his country as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. During the war, he was a pilot of the B17 Fighting Fortress.

He was a drafting engineer and manager at the Foxboro Company for 35 years, retiring in 1983. He had been a Foxboro resident for 58 years.

Lewis was a trumpet and melophone musician. He was a member of the Stone Street Strummers and Norwood AARP Irregulars. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 6063 Council of Foxboro, and was a founder of the Knights of Columbus Farm Stand.

Loving husband of the late Doris (Bowles) Bedard and the late Marjorie Kallio-Bedard. Beloved father of Francis L. Bedard of Foxboro, David E. Bedard of Maryland, Sandra E. Baker of Dennis and Diane G. Bedard of Mansfield. Brother of Gladys Mathieu and her husband Len of North Carolina, Charles Bedard and his wife Jane of Plainville, Victor Bedard and his wife Sandra of Carver, Priscilla Bandoni and her husband Jack of Rhode Island, Gloria Robbins and her late husband Raymond of Michigan, Constance Wyatt and her husband Bill of Texas and the late Edward, John and Franklin Bedard. Adoring grandfather of Annmarie, Tim, Brad, Billy, Bridget, Steven, Lewis, Buffy, Saya, Eileen and David. Great-grandfather of nine.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday, Jan. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Carpenter Street, Foxboro. Interment to follow with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery, Foxboro.
