Neva Kathleen Berridge (née Sloan) left her family to be with Jesus December 19, 2006 at the age of 96 years.

Neva was born in Roche Percée, Saskatchewan on November 21, 1910 and was the ninth of eleven children born to Bert and Katherine Sloan. Neva grew up on a farm close to Tompkins, SK where she acquired many of her excellent work habits which sustained her throughout her lifetime.

Neva married Jack Berridge in 1929 at Gull Lake, SK. They had seven children. Neva and Jack lived in Saskatchewan until the spring of 1942 when they moved their young family to Windsor, Ontario so Jack could work in a munitions factory. They moved back West at the end of 1943 and settled in East Coulee, Alberta. Mom often said that some of her fondest memories were from her years there. When the coal mines started to close in 1956 the family moved to Calgary. Neva immediately got a job at Planidins Grocery Store in Montgomery. A few years later Mom's love of books led her to work in the book departments at the Hudson's Bay Co., the Bible Store, Mount Royal College and Woodwards Market Mall, from where she retired at sixty-nine years of age. Neva taught Sunday School for many years and also belonged to a Bridge Club in Briquette Plant, SK, East Coulee and again when she moved to Calgary.

She was very proud of all the tea cups she won playing bridge. Neva loved sports. She was her children and grandchildren's biggest sports fan. Very seldom did she miss any of their games. Many times Mom would leave right after one of her grandchildren's baseball or hockey games and drive quickly to one of her other grandchildren's games. When her daughter Sharon lived in Phoenix, Arizona, Mom would visit her every March so that she could attend the Spring Training baseball games. Mom also went many times to visit another daughter Bonnie at their plantation in Trinidad, West Indies. Mom loved to travel! She also vacationed in Hawaii, Florida, Barbados, Vancouver Island, Las Vegas, and all through California. Mom was always game to go anywhere.

Neva was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1962; son Garth at birth; and grandsons, Todd Takacs in 1995 and David Bone at birth. Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed by her four daughters, Bonnie Fahey (Mike), children, Shannon and Shelly; Sharon Gislason (Don), children, Shawna, Dawna, Patti, Jody and Jacqui; Gwen Bone (Bill), children, Cathe and Bill Jr.; Sandra Takacs (Steve), children, Deb, Todd (deceased) and Jeff; and two sons, Lynn Berridge (Shari), children, Brady, Dori, Kari and Wade; Mike Berridge (Cheryl), children, Mike Jr. and David. Neva is also survived by twenty-seven great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great-grandchildren. The family wish to extend a special thank you to Dawn Lutersz for her devotion and care of Mom during these past few years. You were quite a lady Mom and your family will miss you dearly.
