Coroner's Jury Says It Was Due to Fatty Degeneration of the Heart.
The circumstances in connection with the death of Francis M. Andre ("French Mack"), particulars of which are given in another column, caused Coroner Daniels to summon a jury yesterday afternoon to investigate the case. It was composed of the following: Paul Sears (foreman), Henry Martin, Zach Williams, Alfred Williams, H. V. Holmes, Joseph M. Morehouse and George Griffin.
There were but two witnesses examined by the coroner – Dr. John T. Jones and Mrs. Margaret Dickerson. The testimony of the doctor was to the effect that he had made a post-mortem examination of the deceased and found that death was caused by fatty degeneration of the heart muscles.
Mrs. Dickerson testified to having seen Andre alive yesterday morning and also related the circumstances in connection with the finding of the corpse about 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
After brief deliberation the jury returned a verdict to the effect that Andre's death was due to fatty degeneration of the heart.
