Elsie M. Bonuchi, 89, of Higbee, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Macon Health Care Center. Elsie was born on May 4, 1927 in Higbee, Missouri a daughter of the late James and Mary (Owens) Sumpter.
She was a member of the Higbee Christian Church, Higbee Progressive Club, former Higbee School Board Member, Lions Club, and the Higbee Alumni Association. She was a great organizer and was very instrumental in the Higbee fairs. Elsie enjoyed quilting, attending school sports, and visiting with friends. She never met a stranger. She was a donor for the Red Cross for many years until she was no longer able to do so.
During her career, she worked for Brown Shoe Company, Stampers, and National Garment Company and retired from Baxter Healthcare Corporation in the factory.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Americo “Reke” Bonuchi; as well as several brothers and sisters.
Elsie is survived by her children, Joseph (Tammy) Bonuchi of Fayette, Missouri and Mary K. Bonuchi of Higbee, Missouri; grandchildren: Chris (Becky) Bonuchi, of Higbee, Missouri and Molly Bonuchi of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska; great grandchild: Karisa Bonuchi; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Higbee from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Eichenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Higbee City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Higbee Christian Church.
