Rita J. Grebner, 74, of Chillicothe passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at her home.
She was born on December 30, 1942 in Metamora the daughter of Elmer A. and Josephine B. (Zimmerman) Musselman. She married Lon J. Grebner on November 17, 1978 at Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe.
Surviving is her husband, Lon, of Chillicothe; her children: Julie (David) Philyaw of Chillicothe, Randy (Michellee) Bachman of White Lake, MI., Melinda Bachman of Peoria, Michaela (Jim) Reneau of Peoria, and Tony Grebner of Sparland; Ten grandchildren: Amber (Joel) Taylor, Drake (Phina) Philyaw, Erin (Michael) Hill, Jillian (Tyler) Dicks, Tyler Bachman, Hunter Bachman, Chloe Bachman, Mira Reneau, Ben Reneau, Lucas Reneau; Great Grandchildren: Bradyn Taylor, Luke Taylor, Alyssa Taylor and Lexi Taylor. Also surviving are her siblings, Joanne Hewitt of Eureka, Kenneth (Nancy) Musselman of Chillicothe and Keith (Sharon) Musselman of Peoria Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald.
Rita loved her family, spending time being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and especially a wife. She also enjoyed camping and cooking. Most of all, she had the gift of hospitality and opened her home to family and friends to show her love and care for them. Rita was a member of Northwoods Community Church in Chillicothe.
She wanted her illness to be a journey that pointed family and friends to Christ. It was her heart's desire that all her family and friends will spend eternity with her.
Family and Friends may attend the funeral service for Rita on Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017 at 10:00 am at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria. Pastor Craig Smith will officiate. An "open house" style reception will be held on Tuesday evening at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe from 5-8:00 pm. Burial will be held in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Women's Pregnancy Center or to the Chillicothe Campus of Northwoods Community Church.
