John Alvin Hillaker, 92, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017.

Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Will be at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

John Hillaker was born on Aug. 29, 1924, in Flint, Mich.

John had a full life.

He joined the military in 1942-1946 where he served his country as a flight instructor. After the war, he came to Fort Worth to visit his brother, Harry, who was working at the bomber plant which is now known as Lockheed. During that visit John was hired by Lockheed in their aeronautical division and stayed there until he retired.

John enjoyed many hobbies which included camping, woodworking and sewing. He loved building and repairing anything from cars and boats to houses. Some of his woodworking designs, signs and projects were for the Ridglea Country Club 400 and other events. He worked with his son and grandsons teaching them skills to use for their own projects.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Bohy in 2006; parents, Alvie and Nora Hillaker (Roberts); and brothers, Harry Hillaker of Fort Worth and Leroy Hillaker.

Survivors: Wife, Beth Sims Hillaker; son, J. Brad Hillaker and wife, Kim; daughter, Sharon L. Bonney; two twin grandsons, Sean Hillaker and Chris Hillaker; three stepchildren, Dickey Sims, Cindy Hollingsworth and Rick Sims; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorials: If you wish, in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in honor of John to the Co-Workers Sunday School Class at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church, 4200 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
