Hilda M. Bakeman, 90, of Newark Valley, passed away following a brief illness on April 15, 2017. Hilda was born on May 15, 1926 in Windham Twp. PA, the daughter of Viola (Wiggins) and Harland Berry. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Pete Bakeman, and siblings: Greta Mowers, Grace Hugo, Sally Stephenson, Junia Meeker, Melvin and James Berry.

Hilda is survived by her children and spouses: Sam and Jeanne Slavik, Michele Shoultes (David McCallister), Ed and Billie Jo Slavik, Diane and Edward Mueller and Lynda Bakeman. Also surviving are her siblings: Gordon (Eleanor) Berry, Dale Berry, Bernice (John) Landmesser; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Hilda was a proud graduate of Rome High School (PA), class of 1944. She was a devoted homemaker and for many years assisted Pete with their excavating business. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Many have happily received treasured gifts of her handiwork. Hilda was also a big fan of NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
