Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 6-8pm Thursday, 11am-2pm and 4-8pm Friday and 10am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on July 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Percy and Ann (Kozma) Farrington. On March 26, 1955, she married Robert Brooks in Flint. She was a former member of Richfield Road United Brethren in Christ. She was an avid bowler, loved gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family. She was loved by all that had the privilege of knowing her. She loved her 4th of July celebrations at her home on the lake and loved hosting parties.
Surviving are husband, Robert;
children, Diane and husband Randy Darling, Bobbie and husband Andy Akers, Sherri and husband Duff Rheingans, Tammy Brooks, Rick and wife Wendy Brooks and Brad Brooks;
grandchildren, Heather and husband Scott Allen, Ryan Yencso, Aaron Akers, Korey Akers, Stacie Jennings, Bridget and husband Matt Smith, Ricky, Trevor and Taylor Brooks, Jason and wife Trish Darling, Katie Darling and Steve Rheingans;
great-grandkids, Tanner, Kenadee, Jade, Riley, Nora, Dempsey, Matt, Riley, Colin, Hannah, Peyton, Jason, Christian and Ryan;
sister, Charlotte Wilson; many nieces and nephews;
