GARRISONIA: Delwyn W. Foust, age 80, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Westbrook Acres Care Center in Gladbrook where he had been a resident since November of this year.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Garrison United Methodist Church in Garrison with Rev. Jan Ziskovsky officiating. A Flag Presentation Committal Service will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.

Delwyn was born April 6, 1925 south of Fayette to Melvin and Vena Amelia (Helm) Foust and grew up in the Quasqueton/Rowley and Independence area. He attended country schools and graduated from the Quasqueton High School and later attended the University of Iowa. During World War II he served his nation in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Armed Guard and served in the Pacific from the Aleutians to the Phillipines.

On August 21, 1954 he married Mary E. Poulter at Horicon, WI. The couple have lived in Garrison since 1987. Delwyn was a member of the Garrison United Methodist Church, the Garrison Volunteer Fire Dept., and the Garrison and Mt. Auburn American Legion. Delwyn loved his employment at John Deere in Waterloo where he worked as a Senior Control Engineer. He retired in 1984 and in his leisure he enjoyed camping, and as he would say, "redesigning and solving problems".

Delwyn is survived by his wife, Mary of Garrison; his sons, Russell K. (Debra) Foust of Sgt. Bluff, IA, and David W. Foust of Portage, MI; his grandchildren, Hannah, Charles and Kevin; his brother, Orvan "Bud" (Edith) Foust of Gans, OK, and his sister, Alice (Joe) Book of Minburn, IA.

His parents, his brother, Orval and two sisters, Edna Krob and Rosalia Foust preceded him in death.
