Marjorie Gaynelle Reynolds Spangler, 88, of Meadows of Dan, died Friday, February 2, 2007, at R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 21, 1918 in North Carolina to the late Grover Cleveland Reynolds and Stella Shelor Reynolds. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dorn Odell Spangler; a son, Larry K. Spangler; a brother, Galen Reynolds; and a sister, Louise Reynolds. She was a long-time member of Meadows of Dan Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and also sang in the choir. Surviving are one son, Terry Spangler of Richmond; two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis Bryant and Sylvia and Charles Hawkins, all of Chatham; two brothers, Gerald Reynolds of Meadows of Dan and Walter Reynolds of Eden, N.C.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Spangler and Allison Spangler; and one stepgrandchild, Todd Eiklor. Funeral services were held Monday at Meadows of Dan Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Burial was in the Spangler family cemetery. Pallbearers were Todd Eiklor, Herman Terry, Gerald Yeatts, G.C. Reynolds, Gerald Reynolds Jr. and Pat Stanley. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadows of Dan Baptist Church, 2511 Jeb Stuart Hwy., Meadows of Dan, VA 24120.
