Natalie was the oldest daughter of Jim and Barbara Chapman. She had been married to Jim Knox and they had two sons, Alexander (Zandy) and Andrew. She died of cancer.
Her obituary reads: Natalie Aleta Chapman 48, Wartburg, went to be with her Lord on Sept.25,2006. Ms. Chapman was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years. She has many lifelong friends at Liberty who will miss her greatly.
She was a graduate of Wartburg's Central High School and Tennessee Tech University.
For the last 19 years Ms. Chapman has served as an elementary and middle school teacher in Morgan and Roane counties. Most recently she has been teaching 8th grade at Harriman Middle School. Ms. Chapman's love for her students was apparent to all who entered her classroom.
In addition to teaching Ms. Chapman had many passions in this life including playing the piano, bicycling and creating art in many varieties. Ms. Chapman's talent were a special gift to those around her and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her parents Jim and Barbara Chapman; sons Zandy and wife Katie Knox and Andrew and wife Jennifer Knox; grandson, Logan Knox who was the pride and joy of her life; beloved sister Vera Gormley and husband Bill; nephew, Jordan Spurling; nieces, Erin and Eileen Gormley; special aunt, Jaunita Barger; and friends Mike Miller, Theresa Wright and Cheryl Puryear.
The family received friends on Wednesday. Sept.27,2006 from 3 to 7 p.m. in Liberty Baptist Church in Wartburg, with funeral services following at 7 p.m. with Dr. Paul Frick officiating. Graveside service was Thursday, Sept.28, at 2 p.m. in Liberty Church Cemetery. Schubert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
I knew Natalie for many years and the one thing that stands out the most is laughing. Anytime you were near her there was something to laugh about and she had a great laugh. The most important thing about Natalie was how much she loved her sons and was so very proud of them. We talked about being Grandma's and how precious her little grandson was. I didn't see her often lately but it was easy to pick up where we left off when we did get together.
