He was an assistant to the Chancellor of Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. Associated with the University since 1969 he had been an instructor in economics and held several administrative positions in the School of Business and central administration.

He was a U. S. Army veteran, a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Southern Illinois, Clay City Lodge #488 AF & AM, Member of Ainad Temple and the American Legion Post #435, Glen Carbon.

Funeral services were at Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Burial in Clay city Cemetery with Rev. Brad Harris officiating.
