Belton- Graveside services for William Franklin Jones, Jr, 91, of Belton will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at North Belton Cemetery with Dan Cockrell officiating.

Mr. Jones passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home.


William was born in Frederick, OK on April 3, 1926 to the late William F. Jones, Sr. and Jessie Irene Swaim. He served our country with the US Navy and was a World War II Veteran. After his military service he worked at the US Post Office until his retirement. He married Margaret Irene Thompson on August 13, 1970 in Lawton, OK. William was raised in Olney, Texas and moved to Belton in 1976. William was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Irene Jones and a daughter, Sandra Allison Sheard. He is also preceded in death by a brother, James Earl Jones and a sister, Blanch Brock-Jones.

Survivors include his son, Murray Jones; step-sons, Gary Morrison, Gerald Morrison, Wayne Morrison and Gene Morrison; son-in-law, Phillip Sheard; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Belton.
