Ralph N. Schmidt, 83, funeral will be held Friday with burial in Prospect Hill cemetery. He died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 in a traffic accident**. He was born June 27, 1929 at Utica to Joseph and Bertha (Hennings) Schmidt. After his marriage they lived at Utica and then moved to Faimont and then to Stanton. In 1977 he moved to Norfolk. He was divorced. He served with the U. S. Army with enlistment on March 12, 1951 at Omaha, Nebraska and he was discharged on March 4, 1953 at Camp Carson, Colorado. He served in the Korean War as an army corporal. He received four Bronze Stars and United Nations Service Medal. He was survived by 3 sons and their wives, 1 daughter, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 17 step grandchildren, 23 step great-grandchildren, 1 sister Lela Knuth at York.
