Agnes Rita (Barnes) Pickeral, 93, of Indian Head, Maryland formerly of Waldorf, Maryland.

Agnes was born July 10, 1922 in Marshall Corner, MD to the late Louie and Corrine Barnes. She was called home to glory on March 20, 2016, at the Genesis Nursing Home in La Plata, MD.

Agnes received her education in the public school systems of Charles County Maryland. She worked hard to support her family. She worked for Waldorf Motor Court, St. Peter's Catholic Church, cooking dinner for the Priests, Clinton Hospital, Hunt Funeral Home, and Karen Florist.

On December 20, 1941, Agnes was united in Holy Matrimony to the late John E. Pickeral, Sr. (Bunny).

Agnes enjoyed helping others, attending gospel singings, spending time, and attending gatherings with family and friends. She joined St. Peter's Catholic Church at an early age. She made sure anywhere she went she had her prayer beads with her. Agnes was a member of the Randolph Fury Post 170 Ladies Auxiliary in Pomonkey, MD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Corrine Barnes, husband, John E. Pickeral, Sr., sister, Louise Chesley, brother, Theodore Barnes, son, John E. Pickeral, Jr., son-in-law, Lewis Johnson, granddaughter, Erica Pickeral, and great granddaughter, Akria Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory - daughters, Evelyn Pickeral, Thelma Butler (James), Doris Pickeral, Valerie Neal (Thomas), Rita Washington (Arthur), and Sylvia Wills and son, David Pickeral (Valeria), eighteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11am, Monday, March 28, 2016 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peter's Drive, Waldorf, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home.
