Herman J. Kyes - Address 1122 Seymour Avenue died at this residence Thursday afternoon. Funeral will be held at Estes-Leadley Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 1:30 with Rev. H.B. Wade. Interment at Deepdale Cemetery. Survives a wife Hattie Kyes and a daughter Mrs. Elno Hath. Was a member of Bethel Methodist Church, was a merchant for 31 years in North Lansing.

For years Herman had a store called H. J. Kyes & Company, located on 325 E. Grand River Ave. Elno H. Hath (son-in-law) was his employee. It was a second hand store. Before having his own store he worked as a clerk for Dunham Hardware Company. Herman was said to be a short man. Witnesses to his marriage to Hattie was Benjamin Kyes & wife of Lansing. Location of marriage was the Baptist Church in Dansville, Michigan. Herman died at 2:30 p.m. due to encephalitis. He was married and a merchant.
