Portage-Charlotte W. Appelhagen, 66, Portage Township died Thursday in St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart.
She was born Sept. 26, 1920 in Chicago, a daughter of Karl and Eva (Svancara) Wurffel.
A Portage Township resident for 14 years, she previously lived in Glen Park.
On Oct 21, 1942 in Settin, Germany she married Friedrich Appelhagen, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Holger of Portage Township and two granddaughters.
She was a former bank teller, employed by Gainer Bank for 25 years, and attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Merrillville.
Services 10 am Monday, Engel Funeral Home; the Rev. Donald Weber officiating; burial in McCool Cemetery.
