Mother was Mary Dixon Holt (b. 1810 in GA, d. 1851). Death certificate actually supports January 31, 1844 birth date in GA and March 7, 1917 death in Spartanburg, SC.

Married Lou Starr on December 21, 1870 in White County, GA.

Civil War veteran. Enlisted into the Confederate army in 1861 and served as Cadet in the 16th Regiment of the GA Infantry.

HUTCHINS, MR. CLARENCE L.
Died Thursday at Spartanburg, S.C., aged 73 years. Mr. Hutchins was the son of the late Judge N. L. Hutchins, of Lawrenceville, and lived near Suwanee, where he conducted a large plantation. The cause of his death was due to stomach trouble, from which he had been a sufferer for several months. During the War Between the States Mr. Hutchins was a member of the Sixteenth Georgia Regiment, being quite a young man at that time. He rendered gallant service to the cause of the Confederacy. Mr. Hutchins was a devout member of the Methodist church. He is survived by one son, Mr. Guy S. Hutchins, and two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Bear, of Spartanburg, and Mrs. G. G. Hill, of Atlanta. The funeral and interment occurred at Lawrenceville today.
