Wilhemine(Mina) 'MINNIE' 'Dorothee' Sophia Christina HELM was baptized in the Lutheran Church at Suelten/Kittendorf, Mecklenburg.

She married Theodore LAU at Elkport, Iowa.

Mrs. Mina Lau, nee Helm, daughter of John and Caroline Helm, was born in Germany, August 24, 1854, and died at her home in Elkader Sunday, March 12th, at 11:30 p.m. Mrs. Lau was confined to her bed since the 29th day of November, 1932. Her many days of suffering were made as easy as possible by the faithful and loving service of her three daughters and two nurses.

Mrs. Lau came to America with her parents when two years of age. Her parents settled on a farm near Clayton Center.

Mrs. Lau was confirmed on the 5th day of April, 1868, at Clayton Center. In the year 1877 on April 10th, she was united in marriage to Mr. Theodore Lau in Elkport. This union was blessed with four children, Mrs. Wm. Kuehl and Mrs. Chas. Kuehl of Littleport, Geo. Lau and Miss Carrie Lau of Elkader.

Her husband preceded her in death on May 3, 1906. Two weeks ago, one of her sisters, Mrs. Reke, was called to her reward.

The deceased reached the age of 78 years, six months and 16 days.

Mrs. Lau leaves to mourn her departure besides the above named children, one sister, Mrs. Mary Sheer of Monticello, one brother, John Helm of Oelwein, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the Evangelical church at 2:00 yesterday. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
