She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael B. and Kathleen (Mathison) Kelly; two brothers, John B., George M.; and a sister, Mrs. Helen (Bernard) Snedeker. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Sister Deborah began her teaching ministry at the former Elizabeth Seton High School and at Resurrection School in Brookline. In 1946, she was assigned to teach mathematics at Seton Hill University, where she also served as chair of that department. In 1971, Sister Deborah became registrar at the university, a position she held until 1979, when she became an administrative assistant there. After she retired from the university in 1990, Sister Deborah was affiliated as a tutor in mathematics at Westmoreland Community College. For a number of years, Sister Deborah served as the coordinator of community life for the Sisters of Charity who resided at Seton Hill University.
Generous, patient, soft-spoken, Sister Deborah reflected the words of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, "Through piety and gratitude, we come to the deepest recess of peace and true contentment."
Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at the Caritas Christi Motherhouse, Mt. Thor Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, where vigil service will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, in the motherhouse.
