Wife of Well-known Farmer Dies at Home North of City Sunday at age of 49 years.
Mrs. John Elsbury, who for several months had been in a discouraging state of health, died at her home ten miles north of Manchester on Sunday, March 19, 1933, at the age of 49 years. Funeral services are being held this afternoon from her late residence, the Rev. Mr. McConky of Edgewood officiating with the burial in Oakland cemetery here.
Carrie, daughter of Fred and Orpha Briggman, was born near Edgewood, Iowa, Jan. 24, 1884. While she was yet a child the family removed to a farm near Lamont, and there she grew to young womanhood. On Feb 10, 1909, she was married to John Elsbury, and they engaged in farming south of Masonville, at the edge of the Silver Creek community. Eight years ago they took possession of the farm on which the death occurred.
Mrs. Elsbury is survived by her husband and four sons--John of Lamont and Walter, Floyd and Earl, at home. She also leaves three brothers and six sisters, as follows; John, Fred and William Briggman, Mrs. Will Elsbury of Masonville, Mrs. Mark Hazelrigg of Aurora, Mrs. John Newton of Edgewood, and Mrs. Peter Franks, Mrs. Evangeline Fry and Miss Pearl Briggman of this city. For years Mrs. Elsbury had been affiliated with the church at Thorpe and was an active member of its Aid society.
A devoted wife and mother and a helpful, unselfish neighbors, Mrs. Elsbury will be mourned by a wide circle of friends who extend to the members of her family sincere and heartfelt sympathy.
