Charles A. “Butch” Burke, 76, of Decatur, formerly of Pawnee, died on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Symphony in Decatur.

Mr. Burke was born August 13, 1942 in Taylorville, the son of Bernard and Mary (Bible) Burke. He married Linda S. Pearman on March 29, 1963 in Springfield. They later divorced. Mr. Burke was a 1960 graduate of Farmersville High School in Farmersville. He worked as a coal miner at Crown Coal Mine #2 in Virden for 21 years, retiring in 1998. Mr. Burke was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are one son, Kevin (wife, Irina) Burke of Dunbarton, New Hampshire; one daughter, Karen Zamboni of Henderson, Nevada; three grandchildren, Pavel Burke, Katerina Burke and Nicolis Zamboni; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Bogan; and one brother, Bernard “Jake” Burke.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Hough Funeral Home in Farmersville. Father Bunse officiated, with burial following at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Farmersville.
