In the 1950s, moved to Bloomington, where he was employed by Sarkes Tarzian until 1962. From 1963 until his retirement in 1972, he owned the Safari Shop. He was a member of the Elks Club in Bloomington and Florida

Survivors include his wife, Bette Lambert Russell Mahigian, and one daughter, Teresa Mahigian of Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Scott Mahigian.

Bloomington (IN) Herald-Times, Oct 12, 1997

His 1940 draft registration & SSDI list his birthplace as Harpoot, Armenia. Armenia was part of Russia at the time. However, he was a Turkish citizen (Ottoman Empire at the time of his birth), and the city of Harput is in Turkey, 250 miles from the Armenian border. He arrived with his mother, in New York 22 June 1920, on a Greek ship; most of the passengers were ethnic Armenians escaping Turkey. He was naturalized in Philadelphia on 10 Jan 1941.
