Civil War Union Army Officer. He served during the Civil War as Captain and commander of Company K, 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, being commissioned on September 1, 1862. He was serving as Acting Assistant Inspector General on the staff of Brigadier General Thomas A. Rowley during the July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Towards the evening of July 3, 1863 he was killed by an artillery shell.
