He was born February 17, 1933, to Charles C. and Florence (Wendorph) Olin Sr. in
Birmingham, Mich., where he was raised. He served in the U.S. Air
Force during the Korean War. On October 18, 1952 he
married Sara Eckersen in Birmingham, Mich. They were
long-time residents of Birmingham, Mich.
Mr. Olin worked as a landscape forester. In 1988 he
retired and moved to Greenbush, and later to Mikado. After he retired, Mr. Olin
enjoyed working at the DNR office in Alcona County. He was a family-oriented man
who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and golfing. He was an avid bowler
and loved playing cards. He was a former member of the First United Methodist
Church of Birmingham, Mich., Troy Elks Club, and Harrisville Lions Club.
Mr. Olin is survived by his wife, Sara; four daughters, Suzan Olin of Mikado, Meilssa
(Jeff) Blohm of Warren, Mich., Donna Olin of North Caro
lina, and Julie Brooks of Brighton, Mich.;
six grandchildren, Nichole Grover, Jon Walsh, Eric Blohm, Alex Blohm, Mae Brooks, and
Collin Brooks; two greatgrandsons, Tyler Grover and
Jorden Grover; one brother, Gary Olin of Florida; and his beloved dog, Duffers.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sondra Orrick; and one sister, Dorothy Jean Fox.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 6 at noon at the Greenbush
Township Hall. Cremation arrangements were made through Gillies Funeral
Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be made to the Alcona Humane Society.
