Dorothy Loretta Salyers, age 72 of Dayton passed away peacefully on May 1, 2017. Dorothy was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Dewey and Helen Brown. She moved with her family to Dayton and graduated from Stebbins High School in 1964. She met and married James Salyers in 1965. Dorothy loved to cook for her family, enjoyed gardening, and bingo. She was devoted to her home and family and took great joy and pride in the care of both. Dorothy had a great love for her family. She was a caring, compassionate, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Otis; sisters, Gerdaldine and Lois.

Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her memory, loving husband of 52 years, James E. Salyers; children, Lynn (Mike) Rhea, Sharon Edwards, Eric Salyers, and Matthew Salyers; grandchildren, Josh Rhea, Corey Edwards, and Ethan Edwards; sisters, Lucy Crane, Christine Oakes, Frances Wice, and Linda Kuykendall; life-long friends, Margaret and Mary; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 12pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel.
