Lorraine Shank Armstrong, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Mabel Shank. Lorraine grew up in Green Tree and graduated from the Tredyffrin Easttown High School in 1945. She was the widow of A. Rodman Armstrong with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.
She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Malvern where she taught Sunday school and served on numerous boards and committees. In her later years, she delivered food to shut-ins for Meals on Wheels and worked for many years as a volunteer at Paoli Hospital.
Lorraine and her husband loved old field stone farmhouses. They found a “fixer-upper” in Uwchlan Township that they named “The Quoin Box”, and spent more than 15 years working on it together before making it their home.
She is survived by a daughter Gail (Terry Schnell) Armstrong of Olean, N.Y. and a son Thomas (Donna) Armstrong of Downingtown. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Daniel (Leia) Armstrong, Laura (Brent) Mounts and Matthew (Brooke) Schnell and 5 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Adelyn, Logan, Owen and Grace.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother M. Rodney Shank.
Lorraine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, May, 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Malvern, 146 Channing Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355.
A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Internment will be private.
