Obituary for Genevieve Lucile Taylor

Genevieve Lucile Taylor was born November 21, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Theodore Anton Hansen and Clara May (Warner) Hansen.

She was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School. During WWII, Gen worked at the Ordinance Plant in Des Moines. On August 13, 1944 she was united in marriage to Robert Morton Taylor in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Diana and Roberta. Gen also worked for Bishop’s restaurant and Northwest Hospital. Gen and Bob lived in Des Moines many years and following retirement, they traveled for 17 years, then resided in Ames for 13 years before moving to Pleasantville in May of 1995.

Gen was a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church, Order of Amaranth, Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Red Hats. She enjoyed her many years in Amaranth and was the Iowa Representative at the Nation Convention in Jacksonville, Florida. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved to give tours of her flower garden.

Gen passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at her home at the age of 94 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; siblings: Leona Getchell, Richard Hansen and Herbert Hansen; grandson, James Foulk, Jr. and granddaughter, Nickie Clark.

Those left to cherish Gen’s memory include her daughters: Diana Foulk of Des Moines and Roberta Clark of Pleasantville; grandchildren: Christine Tallamage (Doug) of Des Moines, Jennifer Clarke (Dee) of Pleasantville and Stephanie Clark of Pleasantville; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews: Laura, Steven, Michael, Wayne, Beverly and Robert and many other family members and friends.
