Lillian Havlat Turek Mares was born April 15, 1920 in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska, the daughter of Anton Havlat and Antonia (Nemec) Havlat and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on April 21, 2017 at the age of 97 years, 6 days.

Lillian attended country school near Pleasant Dale. She was united in marriage to William Arthur Turek in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 15, 1942; their marriage was blessed with three children, Carol, Sharon and David. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, and then moved to Seward.

Lillian was employed at the egg plant and Dale's Steak House, both in Seward and Russell Stover in Lincoln and was a member of the Woman's Club.

William passed away in 1973, and Lillian was married to Victor Mares in May of 1978; they resided in Fairbury. While living in Fairbury, Lillian was employed with the fabric store. She moved back to Seward to the Greene Place in March of 2013. Lillian loved to dance to Czech music.

Lillian is preceded in death by: her parents, Anton and Antonia Havlat; husband, William A. Turek in 1973 and husband, Victor Mares in 2013; three brothers, Charles Havlat, Lumir Havlat and Rudy Havlat; sister, Matilda Havlat Kilby.

Survivors cherishing Lillian's memory include: her children, Carol and James Joura, Sharon and Loren Toovey, and David and Rita Turek; brother, Adolph and Donna Havlat; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Zabka Funeral Home in Seward. Interment in Seward Cemetery.
