After high school graduation, Bernice worked for the Pere Marquette Railway in Manitowoc during World War II.
In 1946, she married James Pokorski and in 1958 they located to Phoenix, Arizona, where they raised three sons.
Bernice was employed as a secretary until her retirement in 1985. She had many interests including cooking, sewing, tennis, golf, visits to Las Vegas and especially bingo.
For eight years, she served as a volunteer at the ASU Sundome Performing Arts Center. However, her passion was her family and she will be greatly missed.
Bernice was preceded in death by her son, Tom. She was survived by her husband, Jim; her sons: Michael and Kerry; daughters-in-law: Peggy and Jody; grandchildren: Stephen and Kate; sister: Lorraine Theisen (Appleton, WI) and brothers: Dick Wilhelm and David Wilhelm (both of Manitowoc, WI).
