Aaron M. Loomis was the son of Milo Loomis and Lucy A. Greenley. He married Jane Briggs in 1852, and moved to Wyoming, Iowa in 1856. They had three children: Josephine, Jesse and Finney. Aaron enlisted in Company K, 24th Iowa Infantry, Civil War, at age 30, on August 1, 1862. He was promoted to Captain on June 18, 1864. Capt. Loomis was wounded at Cedar Creek, Virginia on October 19, 1864. He mustered out in Savannah, Georgia on July 17, 1865. Jane Loomis died in 1866 and Aaron married Alice Spitzer on August 9, 1868. They had three childre: Mabel, Milo and Arthur. Aaron was a merchant in Wyoming, he was elected to the Iowa legislature in 1896, 1897 and 1898 and in 1904, he was appointed Postmaster of Wyoming.
