Founding pastor of St. Hilary Catholic Church in Pico Rivera, California, where he served for 29 years, from 1950 to 1979. Rev. Monsignor Percy Bell came to Los Angeles from Canada with his family when he was young. He was ordained at St. Vibiana's Cathedral by Bishop John Cantwell on June 10, 1933. He served as the pastor of St. Francis Xavier parish in Pico Rivera for one year in 1949 before starting St. Hilary's parish, where he started the Perpetual Adoration Society in 1958. He was the brother of Bishop Alden J. Bell of Sacramento. From his obituary in the Los Angeles Times, Aug. 20, 1990.

"BELL, Rev. Msgr. Percy J., passed away on August 15, 1990. He was the first Pastor and responsible for construction of St. Hilary's Church and School. He is also responsible for the installation of the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Hilary's Church. His last assignment was at St. Sebastian in Santa Paula where he served as Pastor.
Funeral Mass Tuesday, 11 a.m., at St. Hilary Church, Pico Rivera; officiating, Most Rev. John J. Ward. Committal to follow in Calvary Cemetery."
