Born: Ted was born on 10 March 1946 at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D. C.

He was 26 and single when he died. - Brig.Gen Ralph J. Hallenbeck, Jr.(father)Mrs Corabelle H Hallenbeck, (mother)Colorado Springs, Co. She is still alive and is 93 yrs of age.. Brothers: Don (USAFA '66), Rudy (USAFA '69), & Lane.

*** Capt. Ted B. Hallenbeck, Class of 1968, was killed on 5 Febuary 1973 in an aircraft accident near Koke-Theim Airport, Thailand. He was the instructor pilot on an AU-23 which crashed five miles from the runway.

Funeral services were held at the Air Force Academy on 13 February. Capt. Hallenbeck is survived by his parents, Brigadier General and Mrs. Ralph J. Hallenbeck, of 1975 Brookwood Dr., Colorado Springs, Colo. 80907; and by his brothers, Don, Rudy and Lane. Don and Rudy graduated from the Academy in 1966 and 1969, respectively.
Capt. Hallenbeck graduated from the Academy with a major in International Affairs. He participated in several cadet activities, including the Ski Club, Rally Committee, Saddle Club, Water Ski Club, and was a cheerleader. He lettered in swimming and soccer and played one year with the baseball team. Following UPT, Capt.
Hallenbeck was assigned to the 21st TASS at Cam Ranh Bay, SVN, flying the O-2A aircraft. In early 1971, he was assigned duty with the 547th SOTS at Eglin Field as an instructor pilot in the O-2A.
His decorations included the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.

Captain Ted Hallenbeck was assigned to Nakhon Phanom RTAFB Thailand.

Captain Hallenbeck was flying an AU-23 on a training mission, which was a piloted version of the QU-23 drone used to gather data from the sensors used in the Igloo White program on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

He and possibly a Thai Air Force pilot were killed in the crash in Thailand.

His body was recovered
