JEANETTE K. KORINEK

Jeanette K. Korinek, age 92, a former resident of River Hill Apartments, 1500 North 3rd Street, Manitowoc, and more recently residing at Laurel Grove, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
Jeanette was the daughter of Peter and Emma (Vogel) Holschbach, and was born in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids on August 30, 1924. She attended area schools and worked for many families in child care and light housekeeping during her school years. Jeanette also worked at Holy Family Hospital while attending Vocational School in Manitowoc. She was engaged to Corporal Tech Sylvester Koerner of Whitelaw who died in Okinawa, Japan on May 14, 1945 during World War II. During this period, she was employed at the National Tinsel Factory in Manitowoc.Jeanette married James J. Korinek on September 25, 1946, and the couple farmed together on the Korinek Homestead which was declared a Century Farm in 1966. The farm was located at Cato Route 2, and was their residence until the illness of her husband James required them to move to 1458 Johnston Drive, Manitowoc in April of 1969. James preceded her in death on October 30, 1969. At that time, Jeanette took employment at Dairy Herd Improvement Association, along with work at Manitowoc Motor Hotel, Merle Norman Beauty Salon, Hilltop Haven, and for 13 and a half years at Shady Lane Nursing Home, retiring in 1991. She lived at East Reed Avenue Apartments for 10 years before relocating to River Hill Apartments for her retirement. Jeanette was a member of the Taus Ambitious Homemakers Club and U.W. Manitowoc's H.C.E. for over 50 years where she served as President and Secretary for several of those years. She was also a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, the Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kellnersville, and a member of Catholic Financial Life Br. 86 of Francis Creek. She volunteered at the Senior Center and Meals on Wheels at River Hill Apartments. Jeanette enjoyed spending her time reading, gardening and travelling.
Survivors include Jeanette's two sons, Jerold (Dianne) Korinek, Cato, and Jeffery (Cheri) Korinek, Manitowoc; grandchildren, Melanie Letter, Fond Du Lac, Jerold (Katrina) Korinek II, Brillion, Carrie Korinek (Kent DuBois) Appleton, Aaron (Alyson) Korinek, Green Bay; great grandson, James C. Letter, Merrill; sister, Amy (Robert) Kaufman, Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Betty Holschbach, Manitowoc; family friend, Elsie Korinek, Kellnersville; step-grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Schueler, Laura (Kurt) Fielding, Linda (Tom) Wenzel, and Richard (Rita) Zipperer, and their children; also special cousin Rev. Richard Klingeisen, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends survive. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, James; granddaughter, Jamie Lea Korinek; parents, Peter and Emma Holschbach, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Caroline Korinek; brothers, Rienard (Jeanette), Leo and William (Jean) Holschbach; sister, Ione (Marvin) Pankratz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis (Marcella) Chizek and Ludmilla (Millie) Manhke; and a nephew Anthony Holschbach.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Jeanette's cousin, Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Kellnersville.
