Budget Analyst

Nancy Jean Abbott, 65, a retired budget analyst with the Naval Sea Systems Command, died March 16 at Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria. She had Alzheimer's disease.

A resident of Arlington, Mrs. Abbott was born in Colon, Panama. She grew up in the Panama Canal Zone, and she went to work there in 1945 for the Navy.

In 1947, she moved to the Washington area and continued her career with the Navy Department. She worked in the Bureau of Supplies and Accountants and later transferred to what is now the Sea Systems Command. She retired in 1987.

Mrs. Abbott was a member of the ladies' auxiliaries of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Frederick E. Abbott of Arlington; a son, John Edward Abbott Sr. of Hilton Head, S.C.; a brother, Wilbur Allen White Jr. of Prescott, Ariz., and a grandson.

A son, Michael F. Abbott, died in 1988.
