As a young girl Rosemarie was a member of her high school's first women's basketball team and was interested in aviation. But most of all, she wanted to be a Mechanical Drafter who designed tools. So, under much ridicule, she enrolled in Worcester Vocational School and became the first female Drafting student to graduate, and with honors. She then went on to begin a life-long career building diamond saw blades at Rockwood Sprinkler, where she met her husband, Norman. [They were married on Nov. 26, 1949.] In the most recent thirty years of her career life, Rosemarie was employed at N.E.D. Corp in the Osgood-Bradley Building in Worcester.

Together, Rosemarie and Norman raised four children: David, Mark, Marie Chipman and Peter, while living in Worcester, then Oxford and Sutton. Rosemarie is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces. A nephew predeceased her.

Finally, Mrs. Young was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in N. Oxford, where her many talents were important when the church was renovated and expanded. The inscription on her funeral service booklet summed up her generous and caring life with, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of the Lord."
