Thelma Thompson Miles, 89, passed away Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at a local care facility with her family and nurse at her side. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Thelma was born July 22, 1917, in Lake Creek, the ninth child born to Laura Lee Harris and Gabe C. Thompson. She attended schools in Lake Creek and Antioch. In 1952, the family moved to Waco where Thelma owned a beauty salon for several years. She was an accomplished designer and seamstress, winning Best of Fair, blue and red ribbons for her quilts, sewing and crochet at the Heart of Texas Fair. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall "Milo" Davis Miles; her parents; and 10 of her 11 siblings. Thelma is survived by her daughters, Dr. Carolyn Robertson and husband, Robert of Fort Worth and Marla Gail Choate of Waco; granddaughters, Darla Ann Robinson and husband, John of Fort Worth and Sharla Gail Miles of Waco; great-granddaughter, Kate Ann Robinson; sister, Verona Robertson of Moore, Okla.; eight nieces and nephews, their families and many dear friends. The family wishes to thank Trinity Terrace Health Care Facility and Vitas Hospice for the loving and excellent care that Thelma received and the support they gave to the family during her long illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Trinity Terrace Foundation, 1600 Texas, Fort Worth, TX 76102, or the charity of choice.
