DeKalb Daily Chronicle, undated article (abt Jun 1901):

McGirr-Fitzgerald

A June wedding of interest to a great many people in DeKalb and vicinity was celebrated at St. Mary's church Wednesday afternoon when Father Solon pronounced the words which united the lives and fortunes of Miss Theresa McGirr, of Afton and Mr. James Fitzgerald, of Maple Park. Father Hartman, of the latter place, assisted at the ceremony, which was witnessed by immediate relatives only.

The principals were supported by Miss Nellie McGirr, sister of the bride, and Mr. Dennis McMahon, of Maple Park.

The bride is a daughter of the well-known McGirr family, one of the oldest and most influential in the township, a sister of John, Dennis, and P.A. McGirr, all prominent in business lines. She is attractive personally, well-educated and enjoys the highest regard of those who know her best.

The groom is a clean-cut young man, one of Maple Park's most successful tradesmen. He is as square as a brick in a business way and personally is as genial and pleasant a companion as one could wish for. They have gone east on a wedding trip, following which they will set up their household goods in our neighboring town, thus adding another item of strength to the bulwarks of the republic.
