He met and fell in love with Grace Wynn Batten and they were married on November 23, 1991. Dee happily embraced Grace's children, Howard and Katie, as his own. He delighted in all his grandchildren. Dee retired after 25 years of service from Eastern State Hospital where he was the Electrical Shop Foreman.
In his spare time, Dee became an accomplished finish carpenter. He enjoyed remodeling and finishing each of his homes. Dee and Lee spent many happy hours touring on their motorbikes. Dee loved trains and enjoyed building a detailed miniature railroad complete with town, hills, valleys, bridges, tunnels, farms and a railyard. Dee's gardens were his pride and joy and everyone marveled at their beauty.
Dee is survived by his loving wife Grace; his children: Ardee Ableman, Cheney, Teri (Larry) Bauman, Sedro Woolley, Barb Ableman, Cheney, Howard (Stacy) Batten, Woodenville, and Katie Flores, Rancho Cucumonga, California; his grandchildren: Justin (Heather) Norwood, Carme (Seth Powell) Bauman, Leisl (Billy) Kerechek, Gabe Flores, Julia Flores, Ethan, Sydney, Allison and Samantha Riley; his great-grandchildren: Amy, Trevor, Sarah, Gwen and Caden; nephews, Steve Ableman and Todd (Judy) Ableman as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Dee was preceded in death by his parents Arland and Myrtle Ableman, his brother Lee Ableman, sister-in-law Elsie Ableman, nephew Gary Ableman and granddaughter Heather Ableman-Impecoven.
Words cannot describe what a wonderful, kind, loving, caring and hilarious man Dee was. We are so thankful for his love, time and attention. He was always there for us and will be sorely missed.
