Harlan "Butch" Woken, 84, of Northwood, ND passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at his home in Northwood under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Northwood Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northwood. A visitation will be held Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at the Bilden Funeral Home in Northwood.
Harlan was born February 25, 1929 in McVille, ND to Peter and Hazelle (Johnson) Woken. He grew up and graduated from Northwood High School in 1948. After high school, Harlan enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years.
On June 19, 1954, Harlan married Helen Ostlie in Northwood, ND. He served as a custodian at the Northwood School for 25 years. Harlan enjoyed gardening, fixing things, and all kinds of sports.
Harlan is survived by his wife Helen; children: Terry (Tim) Lee, Hillsboro, ND, Barb (Tim) Kraft, Casselton, ND, Scott (Kathy) Woken, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Carissa (Scott) Olsen, Brenna (Ryan) Opdahl, Travis (Kristi) Kraft, Calvin (Jacki) Kraft, Taylor Kraft and Alex Woken; great grandchildren Riley, Madison, and Kennedy Olsen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Harlan in death were his parents; brother Peter Paul; and sister Joan.
